The Amazon rainforest is mostly in Brazil, stretching also into Peru, Bolivia etc. The region takes its name from the Amazon, the world's largest river, that flows into the Atlantic. The river is 6,400 km long and has many large tributaries. It has a catchment area of about 7,050,000 km².
