Japan is a land of stationery. A great deal of craft pride is packed even into a tiny tool such as the pencil sharpener. Once tempered the blades go through a special grinding machine. It passes a whetstone as it turns
to get a razor-sharp edge. The pressure and angle is adjusted down to one hundredth of a millimeter which require top craftsmanship. After five stages of precision sharpening, the blades become as sharp as samurai swords.
